Clifford Chadderton Award for Prosthetic and Orthotic Research
The Clifford Chadderton Award for Prosthetic and Orthotic Research is a joint award from the ISPO Canada (International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics) and The War Amputations of Canada. This award endeavours to
- Improve the lives of people with disabilities who rely on prosthetic and orthotic devices
- Promote prosthetic and orthotic (P&O) research
- Encourage multidisciplinary involvement in P&O research
- Encourage innovation in Canada ’s P&O industry
- Encourage students to enter careers in P&O research
- Encourage publication of Canadian research in scientific literature
The total value of the award is $2000 CA and is comprised of $1000 to the recipient, $1000 for travel expenses to present at the ISPO Canada Conference, and free conference registration.
Guidelines
- Open to any Canadian resident involved in prosthetics and orthotics research
- Research must be focused on prosthetics and/or orthotics (technical, clinical, etc.)
- Research or development projects are eligible
- The project must be innovative, novel, and original
- An evaluation component must be included in the project
- Research published more that two years before the submission deadline are not eligible (submissions do not have to be published in the clinical or scientific literature to be eligible)
Submission
- Five page summary of project in research format (introduction, methods, results, discussion, conclusion)
- Reference list (no page limit)
- List of publications and presentations from submitted project
- Cover letter with title, name and contact information for the applicant(s)
